Posted by Marki Conway on Apr 26, 2017 1:10 PM

When you hear the words Artificial Intelligence (AI), it’s easy to get swept up in visions of robots and flying cars – a future we see in the movies, but most likely will never see in our lifetimes. AI has already popped up all around us at work and in our homes, slowly and subtly changing the way we interact with machines. For those who work in technology, AI is one of the latest buzz words that’s made its way into conversations around conferences, newsrooms and boardrooms across the globe. A lot of companies are eager to get into the conversation quickly, which is where they make mistakes. Focusing so much on simply joining the conversation makes them just another face in the crowd.

How to Incorporate AI into your Communications Strategy

Posted by Kate Connors on Feb 16, 2017 4:07 PM

Mention the name Tom Brady at any sports bar in America, and every last person will know just who he is. And patrons on every stool will have an opinion about whether he’s the greatest ever or overrated. The same thing happens when you mention Artificial Intelligence (AI) in a room full of enterprise technology executives. A recent survey of C-level executives from Rage Frameworks found that “eighty-two percent of research participants stated that their organizations would be using AI in 2017 and 11 percent of participants are strongly considering it.” Just like Brady, the past, present (and future?) Super Bowl MVP, it’s pretty safe to assume that AI is trending – big time.

Making Sense of the Latest MARCA Development

Posted by Ally Andrew on Oct 3, 2016 12:00 PM

Over the past few months, there has been a lot of chatter in the media about the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MARCA). The new policy makes three important changes to how Medicare pays those who care for Medicare beneficiaries, including ending the Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) formula, creating a new framework for rewarding providers and consolidating existing quality reporting programs into one. With these changes, providers need to select a system to link quality to payments in the form of Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and Advanced Alternative Payment Models (APMs).

PAN Communications Hosts Health 2.0’s Start-Up Stand-Up

As a surprise to no one, the technology industry in the great Bay State is one of the fastest growing industries, with CompTIA claiming the highest per-capita ranking nationwide in tech-related patenting, licensing and venture capital. The Boston Globe also recently reported that Massachusetts is the number one spot nationally in high-tech research and development, testing and life science industries. No doubt the heavy population of academic institutions and healthcare facilities contributes to this top-notch position, but it’s great to see Massachusetts is making a name for itself, as it will only entice more innovative companies to call this state their “home.”

Virtual Reality: Accomplishments to Date and What is to Come

Posted by Matt Stallknecht on Sep 19, 2016 12:00 PM

Virtual reality is an idea that humans have dreamed about, thought about and weighed the possibilities of for almost a century now. Writers as early as the 1950s considered what it would be like for humans to transcend into the virtual world, and now, courtesy of companies like Oculus and Sony, that vision is a reality.

Indeed, VR tech has come a long way in a relatively short time, but now that the prospect of experiencing a virtual world is realistic, consumers are asking “what’s next?” To answer that, one first has to look at the world of home entertainment.

AR – Not just a way to catch ‘em all

Posted by Beth Logan on Sep 15, 2016 12:00 PM

Think on your feet. I say “augmented reality”; you think: what?

*Rocks back and forth* Please don’t say Pokémon GO. Please don’t say Pokémon GO.

I will admit that Pokémon GO is the token example of augmented reality. It is everywhere. If you’re not familiar with the phrase, “augmented reality,” don’t worry, you’re not alone. Even if we have used AR, most of us are unaware of the term’s actual implications. So, here is a formal definition from a self-proclaimed AR expert: augmented reality takes a real-world environment and integrates computer-generated graphics, sound or video into it. Essentially, it enhances the physical environment we look at visually or audibly. Not to be confused with virtual reality, which is an entirely computer-generated environment – unlike AR, VR is 100% simulated.
