SHAPE, AT&T’s inaugural tech expo, kicks off this Friday at AT&T Park in San Francisco. It’s only fitting that AT&T choose San Francisco to display the latest and greatest in robotics, connected cars, smart cities and IoT – we are one of the first cities to feature a robot-powered burger joint after all. I also heard a rumor AT&T was a fan of the venue name, though that’s yet to be confirmed.

Some of the top names in technology and innovation are slated to speak, representing academia, entertainment, journalism and, of course, traditional tech. Here’s more on some of the speakers we’re especially excited about:
- Jared Leto – In addition to being a seemingly age-defying actor and musician, Jared Leto is also an entrepreneur and investor in some of the most innovative technology brands of the twenty-first century. You may have heard of a few: Uber, Airbnnb, Nest, Zenifits, Surf Air, the list goes on. He’s proven time and time again he’s not just a Joker, but someone who understands what’s hot and where the industry is going.
- Peter Diamandis – In a lot of ways, Peter Diamandis is a renaissance man who is able to maintain a level of anonymity. He is an author, entrepreneur, motivational speaker, educator and doctor. He’s been involved with commercial space endeavors, innovation-focused universities and a company aimed at extending the healthy human lifespan. Throughout all of this, his mantra is singular and clear: “The best way to predict the future is to create it yourself.”
- Nate Silver – The pioneer of data journalism, Nate Silver skyrocketed to fame when he used predictive analytics to correctly forecast the outcome in 49 of 50 states during the 2008 election on his fivethirtyeight blog. He continues to beat – or maybe predict – the odds, and will likely have extremely interesting insights throughout this election cycle.
