Where to Spend Your Summer Friday

Samantha Rushovich

A guide to Friday’s in San Francisco, Boston and Orlando

At PAN each Friday from Memorial Day to Labor Day our offices close at 1 pm so that employees can enjoy everything that the summer has to offer. It’s an amazing perk that we all take advantage of, often together!

If you’re new to San Francisco, Boston or Orlando or the summer Friday scene we’ve pulled together some recommended spots, events and activities to check out this summer. So sit back, turn up your favorite Friday tune and enjoy!

Boston

  • Food Truck Friday: In the Boston office every Friday at 1 pm you’ll find PAN employees out the door and on to Boston’s Greenway in search of some local food trucks. We’re lucky to have groups of food trucks parked outside our office each week and enjoy favorites like, Bon Me, Roxy’s Grilled Cheese, Stoked and The Cookie Monstah.
  • Free Fitness Classes: The Boston Public Health Commission and the Esplanade Association are hosting free fitness classes all around the city. On Friday they’re hosting Yoga and Boot Camp classes. The Boot Camp class is right outside of PAN’s front door in Christopher Columbus Park.
  • Boston Baseball: It’s tough to beat spending a day at the oldest ballpark in the MLB. We’re big Red Sox fans in Boston and can frequently be found at a Friday night Fenway game.
  • Harbor Cruises: Also just outside PAN’s office you’ll find a dock for Boston Harbor Cruises. We’re lucky to be close to a Ferry that takes weekend travelers to Cape Code as well as the Harbor Islands. Boat rides can be anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours, the perfect length for an afternoon trip!

San Francisco

  • Fresh Food Scene: San Francisco has a great food scene and any Friday is a good time to check out a new spot! Whether you’re in the Financial District or Mission Hill there are plenty of places to go. Check out this map of the hottest restaurants for some suggestions.
  • Secret Stairways: If you ate too much exploring the city’s hottest restaurants, don’t worry! Nearly 400 different stairways connect San Francisco’s 42 hills and at the top of most you’ll enjoy a beautiful view of the city.
  • Golden Gate Bridge into Sausalito Bike Path: If climbing all those stairs wasn’t enough of a workout, you can bike across the Golden Gate Bridge.
  • Golden Gate Park: After work head to the park for a game of Spikeball (a PAN favorite game). Also, while in Golden Gate Park, you can head to California Academy of Sciences and/or the de Young museum.
  • Baker or Ocean beach: If you don’t want to picnic in the park, head to these beach spots to soak up the sun!
  • MOMA (Museum of Modern Art): If it’s a rainy day and you want to escape indoors, the MOMA is a great place to go. This month the museum is featuring a ‘Pop, Minimal, and Figurative Art’ exhibit.

Orlando

  • Orlando City MLS Games: Kick back and enjoy some soccer in Orlando’s new soccer stadium. Friday, July 8th they’re playing Houston Dynamo at 8:00 pm ET. Getting out at 1 pm gives you plenty of time to get there to tailgate!
  • Local Beaches: Downtown Orlando is only about an hour drive from the closet beach and heading out early on a Friday can help you beat the traffic to some of the most popular spots.
  • American Art Museum: The largest collection of Tiffany glass in the world isn’t in New York; it’s actually in Orlando's Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art in historic Winter Park.
  • Thornton Park: Head to Orlando’s historic district for an afternoon of boutique shopping and/or stop in for lunch/dinner and drinks at any of the restaurants.
  • Lake Eola: The Ocean isn’t the only body of water that attracts Orlando residents. Lost of people head to the lake and Lake Eola is just one of many local spots.

There’s a lot more to explore in each city than we could list here! These are just some ideas to get your summer started. If you want more ideas check out our Facebook and Instagram. Each Friday we’ll be posting a summer Friday photo with the hashtag #PANSummer.

Happy summer Friday!
