Women linked to Petraeus scandal hire PR firms

The women involved in the Petraeus sex scandal have turned to crisis PR firms to help weather the media storm.

Paula Broadwell, the biographer who had an affair with Petraeus, has hired the Glover Park Group to represent her, its MD Joel Johnson confirmed to PRWeek on Tuesday.

He added that the agency will help Broadwell with crisis PR and that she retained it “in the last several days.”

Glover Park's consultants include Dee Dee Myers, who served as White House press secretary in President Bill Clinton's first term.

The news of the agency hire comes a week after reports surfaced that Jill Kelley, whose actions led FBI investigators to uncover the Petraeus-Broadwell affair, hired Smith & Company, the firm that took Monica Lewinsky as a client following the revelation of her affair with Clinton.

Its founder, Judy Smith, is also the inspiration for the character Olivia Pope on the ABC drama Scandal.

So far, both women have declined interviews. Kelley doesn't leave her house most days, a detail Saturday Night Live lampooned this past weekend.
