“By 2014, mobile internet should take over desktop internet usage,” that’s one of the key points in a recent infographics containing various stats on the future of mobile; in other words, in a few years from now mobile devices will be more commonplace than desktop computers.

As a business, how do you benefit from this trend? Here are 10 ways your business can benefit from the mobile marketing trend:

1. Optimize Your Site for Mobile Visitors

A recent Google survey has shown that 75% of people prefer a mobile friendly website over a non-mobile friendly website and that 67% of people are more likely to buy from a mobile friendly website compared to a non-mobile friendly website.

Around half of those who were surveyed went on to say that non-mobile friendly websites annoy and irritate them.

With the widespread growth mobile internet is experiencing right now, you’ll benefit immensely from optimizing your website for mobile users. The best way to go about this is by having a responsive design that automatically adapts to any browser, mobile or not.

2. Create a Mobile App for Smartphone Users

There are over 1 billion Smartphone users that you can tap into to take your business to the next level; a large majority of these Smartphone users are either using the iPhone or an Android device; both iPhone and Android have a special app store for their users and the people using these stores number in the 100s of millions; a great way to tap into them is by creating an app for your site or by creating different apps designed to advertise your site and your offerings.

3. Create a Special Resource for Mobile Users

This can be done as a way to get more people to install your apps and check out your mobile site; the idea is to offer an incentive to people who are mobile users of your site. When they have your site with them on their mobile device when they go to their place of work, when they sleep and even when they commute, you’ll be able to significantly increase their likelihood of checking out what you have to offer.

4. Enable Mobile Payment Options on Your Site and Apps

The last thing you’ll want to happen is for someone to want to pay for your products or services only to find out that they can’t pay you via their mobile devices; it can be frustrating and irritating and this number will eventually add up to cost you some serious revenue loss.

You can significant increase sales on your website by enabling mobile payment options on your site and apps; when more people can pay you via mobile it means more mobile business and revenue for you.

5. Use Mobile Apps as a Marketing Strategy

This is very similar to option 2 above on creating a mobile app. The idea behind this is very simple, create a mobile app that many people install and review which eventually ends up ranking well in the various app stores and directories of the websites they’re installed on, which eventually leads to more downloads of your apps and more users for your business.

If this is effectively done, it can be very profitable.
